The City of Waco sits on the I-35 corridor halfway between Dallas and Austin and is situated along the Brazos River. Founded in 1849, Waco holds a rich variety of cultural experiences, economic opportunity, and Texas history.
Waco is also well known for its many attractions and tourist sites, including the Suspension bridge. The bridge was built in 1870 by Waco's leading citizens as a project to build the first bridge to span across the width of the Brazos river.
Another point of interest that digs into the history of Waco is the Dr. Pepper Museum. The original building gave birth to the bottling of the popular soda pop, Dr. Pepper, until the 1960's. It was then opened to the public in 1991 as a three-story museum.
Other than attractions and history, Waco is home to three major colleges for higher learning, including Baylor University, Texas State Technical College, and McLennan Community College.
